Pizza! It’s something that I love although since trying to eat more vegan meals, it’s been tough. When I was a novice I never thought I would be able to make a vegan pizza recipe in a million years, well now I can and I’m never looking back that’s for sure! Just because it doesn’t have meat, doesn’t mean it’s not a pizza!
This vegan pizza recipe is made for the masses! It doesn’t have to look fancy, shop brought or something that compares to a work of art! Who has time for that, no I’m talking about the average person like myself, throwing a pizza together instead of ordering a takeaway, enjoying themselves and making something VERY tasty at the same time!
I mean if you want to make a vegan pizza that looks like it could enter the worlds best looking vegan pizza competition, you can do just that! However my vegan pizza recipe is all about looking rustic, homemade and the taste being the most important element, oh and having the recipe really easy to do as well.

Getting The Best Vegan Pizza Dough
So it doesn’t matter what you put on your pizza, as long as it’s vegan as this is a vegan pizza recipe after all! The main element has to be the pizza dough, which I was terrified of making and had to get the partner to help me otherwise it would never have worked, I would have probably messed it right up!
The key to the best vegan pizza dough is to not overwork it, if you overwork it like I found out you’ll have something that could be used as a rubber! It goes tough and just doesn’t rise either. So make sure you treat it just right, give it enough time and attention, around 5 minutes will do it!
I’ve said in some recipes before like my vegan chocolate peanut butter cookies that ingredients really don’t matter when it comes to cooking and baking, and I stand by that. I used cheap ingredients and still had one of the best homemade pizzas I have tried in a very long time! The most expensive part was the cheese as vegan cheese isn’t something that is widely sold (yet!).
So if you’re worried that this vegan pizza is going to cost you more than it would if you ordered a takeaway, don’t you worry because it won’t! It is a lot more fun to make though, waiting for it to rise over that hour and then the joy when you take a look and it’s double the size, nothing can beat that!

What Can I Put On A Vegan Pizza?
Whatever you want? I put peppers and onions on mine, I did think about pineapple but I didn’t want to overcrowd it and let’s face it I always put too much cheese on so there wouldn’t have been room for pineapple! The best vegan pizza recipe doesn’t have to have 20 toppings, you can keep it nice and simple and still enjoy it for sure.
The thing I love about this pizza is that it’s also a dairy free pizza recipe, there’s no dairy in the cheese or any other part of it so I can enjoy it, even more, I cook vegan meals due to the fact there’s no dairy as I can’t take much dairy so I thought I’ll just cut it all out instead!
Since enjoying more vegan meals I can say I have a newfound appreciation for food that gets looked over, like peppers! This vegan pizza recipe works great with peppers, they are colourful, super tasty and work really well with cheese. If you’ve not done it before, get some cheese and a bit of pepper and eat it at the same time, it’s like heaven was born!
What was I saying? Oh yeh, don’t be limited to what you put on your vegan pizza, have fun with it, try something different and totally out there like cucumber perhaps? Enjoy it and invent something new in the kitchen! Also by the time I covered it with cheese, no one could have guessed what was under there!

Easy Vegan Pizza Recipe
Ingredients
- 500g Strong white bread flour plus extra for dusting
- 1 tsp Dried yeast
- 1 tsp Castor Sugar
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 2 tsp Mixed Herbs
Tomato sauce Ingredients
- 100 ml Passata
- 2 tsb Mixed Herbs
- 1 clove Garlic
Topping Ingredients
- 200g Vegan Cheese
- 100g Chopped Peppers
- 50g Chopped onions
Instructions
- Add flour, sugar and yeast into a bowl. Get 300ml water, add the olive oil and a pinch of salt to the water and then mix with the flour. You can add mixed herbs into the dough if you want to give it extra flavour. Mix together to form a dough and then kneed until it forms a sticky dough.
- Add flour to a clean surface, kneed the dough for around 5-10 minutes. Add 1 tsp of olive oil to a mixing bowl until the bowl is lightly covered, then add the dough back into the bowl. Cover the bowl for an hour and leave the dough to rise to double the size.
- Pre-heat the oven to 220c. Once the dough has risen, kneed it for a couple of minutes on a floured surface. Set this aside while you make the sauce. To make the sauce just add all the ingredients into the bowl, add a pinch of salt and it's ready to use.
- Roll your dough out to how you want it, it doesn't always have to be perfect and round! Add an even layer of tomato sauce on top and then add your toppings. I put cheese, then toppings and then another layer of cheese for mine.
- Bake the pizza for 15 minutes, it may need longer if the base is still a little soft.
